Can I get help with video cards?

I'm trying to decide on what video card to get for a new laptop. I was thinking of going with the "256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650", but looking at this game I just got, it shows the requirements for video cards as "ATI Radeon 9600" or greater (for Vista) -OR- "NVIDIA Geforce 6200" or greater (for Vista). So I browsed on Dell for a customizable computer with the option of an acceptable video card for the game and found the "128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS".

Now what confuses me is that the 'GeForce 8400M GS' has only HALF the memory as the 'Radeon HD 3650', yet the game accepts the 'GeForce' as better. Whats up with that? Is there some other detail(s) I'm missing about video cards?|||For one the Geforce 8400M Gs has serious driver issues. Two it has a lower clock speed for all three (Vram, GPU, and Shader clocks) and is a terrible video card. In turn the HD 3650 is a spectacular card runs most games on high (except Crysis of course). Any game that you read for the system requirements that has a lower card in place for video(9600(ati) 6200(nvidia) card means that those as well as the next generation (HD 3650) work amazingly. Nvidia is recommended because the company utilized their cards for the game and most likely got paid or paid the company that created your game for illustrating their name! But in a side note ATI will work for any game and are very good on releasing new drivers (drivers make a world of difference in a game).|||Nvidia and ATI are two seperate rival viedo card manufacturers. The HD 3650 is a better card like you said, and will work much better with the game, but the GeForce will also run the game. The game required specs will state that either those two, because they are both around the same level of graphical power. Both cards will play the game well, but for higher settings and faster frame rates, go for the 3650. Better yet, buy intergrated graphics, then upgrade them yourself. Which is by far the better way to play games.|||Memory is not all there is too video cards, there are many other things like memory frequency, Graphics processor frequency, stream processors, ect.

Also are you sure it's 128mb since this page here has the

GeForce 8400M GS listed as having 256mb of memory.

i couldn't find any specs for the Radeon HD 3650 so i cant tell you which is the better card|||memory dosent really matter, i have 200pounds card that can play crysis on very high and it onlt has 256mb, its not the memeory u need to look at. Try searching on goodle " cga charts"

i would say get the cheapest dell pc and upgrade the video card urself -

get a 9600 or higher|||The HD3650 is way greater than the Radeon 9600. If it supports the Radeon 9600, it will have no problem whatsoever with the 3650.

The Radeon 9600 is currently ranked 124th on the graphics card chipset relative performance/feature ranking. The HD3650 is ranked 56th.
