How do I know if a video card can run a certain game?

I'm looking for a laptop and I want it to play games nicely. Nothing too flashy though, because I'm on a budget.

So, say for example, a game's recommended video card is a Nvidia GeForce 6800 256MB, would a Nvidia GeForce 9300 GS 512MB be even better? Is there a chart for this?|||Here's why just looking at the video card series numbers are bad: nVidia comes out with video cards in groups. THe first ones released are the better ones...the Geforce 9800s. The lower ones in the series are cut down versions.

The Geforce 9300 has modern technology, but it is NOT very powerful. According to the link in "Sources", the 9300 is actually much weaker than a Geforce 6800! The 9300 will be compatible (that is, the game will be able to run), but it wont run the game as well as a 6800 will.

However, getting a good video card on a laptop is tough. If you could shoot for a Geforce 9600 GT, for example, you'd be able to run your example game perfectly without breaking the bank.

Check your options and compare them with the website I linked.|||to answer your first question an Nvidia GeForce 9300 GS 512MB is better than Nvidia GeForce 6800 256MB I dont know if there is a chart for it XD|||yes the higher the mb the better the graphics 1024mb=1gb
