Would a bad video card cause my computer to shut down when I open a game?

It just cuts of with no warning and we've narrowed it down to opening/playing Fate or connecting the internet. Our modem is not made for networking so it either has to be plugged into my laptop or our PC. It's the PC that cuts off. It is imperative that the PC be able to use the internet because we use if for business. Any ideas about video card? Something different?|||Welcome to windows.. That is what they do. Live with it or buy a mac.|||maybe your power supply is not suppling enough power, therefore less power is sent to the more important parts, and as an automatic precaution, it would shut down.|||You probably have out of date drivers. Update your directx and video and sound cards. These are found on the website of whatever brand of cards you have.|||Overheating perhaps? Switch off, unplug and clean all the vents and fans with a can of compressed air to remove the build up of dust.
