Video cards?

is there a way to put a new video card in a laptop?

is that even possible?

thx|||Not in a mainstream laptop, no. However, Dell and Alienware both make laptops that can be upgraded with new graphics cards, however, you must send them back for the upgrade, you cannot take an off the shelf card and install it into them. Most of the time, even if it is a dedicated card, it is integrated into the motherboard.|||It's possible but opening a laptop and working inside one are a pain in the butt.|||Usually, no. System boards in laptops have integrated video as do most of today's desktops. However, desktops have slots to upgrade the video. In most laptops you can upgrade the hard drive, memory, and if you really want to crack one open, you can possibly replace the cpu. IMO, this is the biggest trade off when choosing a laptop over a desktop today, well, after price.|||As a rule, no....



And don't forget this...If your laptop is still under warranty, even twisting a case screw (w/ the possible exception of the RAM or HD covers) will immediately VOID your warranty!!!



And I'm pretty sure that if you get an extended warranty for your system, any work done by a NON certified tech will void that warranty, too.
