Is a 1GB video card good enough to play Crysis 2?

This would be assuming that all other requirements are met. And if not, what would be the max graphics game that a 1GB video card could handle? This would be in a laptop.|||The amount of memory doesn't matter. You can have a 4gb 9500gt against a 512mb 9800gt. The 9800gt will crush the 9500gt.

The ram only has to do with the resolution you are running, it holds the textures that's being processed. 512mb-1gb is fine for 1920x1080. Only at 2560x1600 and above do you want 1.2-2gb of Vram.

There are laptop cards boasting 1.5gb DDR3 on resolutions of 1366x768 which is just laughable.

Video cards are mainly based on SHADERS , they don't advertise this. They try and sell you on Ram , DDR5 and MHZ.

I'd grab a 6850 or 6870 then a 6950.|||Crysis 2 minimum system requirements

Operating system: Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, with the latest Service Pack

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo at 2Ghz, or AMD Athlon 64 x2 2Ghz, or better

Memory: 2Gb (Vista requires 3Gb)

Hard disk space: 9Gb

Video: NVidia 8800GT with 512Mb RAM, ATI 3850HD with 512Mb RAM, or better|||hey ,,, that virtual ram thing doesnt matter a lot,,,,

you should check 4 things while buying a card..

1. Core Clock

2. Processor/Shader Clock

3. Memory Clock (does not affect much)

4. Memory Bandwidth (most imp)

Next time specify your things a little|||dont only look at that, also look at core and memory clock speeds and since its crysis 2 look at shader clock speed also|||Probably, it needs 512MB of graphical memory|||its a crappy console port...you could run it with a calculator.|||yes
