How do I tell what CPU and Video Card my computer has?

I want to know if there is a way that I can find out what Video card or CPU my computer is running. The catch? I'd prefer not to open it up, because I use it for some important things and my Laptop is currently on the fritz.

I will accept software (Only if free) suggestions and such, but if you say "Just open up the computer" or something similar, you won't get best answer.

I'm using a home-made desktop, by the way.|||If you're using windows, go to the "My Computer" icon, right-click, and press "Properties". It should tell you the specs of the computer. |||Easy for the video, right click on the desktop and go to properties. On the settings tab it will tell you what kind of video card you have just above the arrow where you adjust your resolution. To find out what kind of CPU you have, http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php go there and download that little program.|||assuming you are using windows, right click on my computer and click on properties. From there you can see what your processor is. Click on Device manager and then on the Display Adapters drop down and your video card will be listed under.

|||In control Panel (for WinXP) go to system, then the hardware tab and open the device manager. All of your hardware will be listed in here. This can be accessed in Vista through without having to select the hardware tab inside the system part of the control panel. |||right click on "my computer">properties>hardware>device manager you can see everything from there.

good luck ,

To tell what frequency your Processor is running at, CPU-Z is a must...and great for ram as well...

Those two will be your favorite little toys if you ever overclock your computer.

Here is a Picture of them in action on my computer so you know I am not Joking....

As you can see I have a 45% overclock on my CPU from 2.2ghz to 3.2ghz running at 1.454v. And my GPU is a 9600gt overclocked like a mad man.

To overclock your video card you can get EVGA precision for NVIDIA based cards. Or you can get ATItool for ATI based cards.

If you want to dive deeper into the mix and really explore everything, such as your hard drive, your peripherals and all your other sweet thangs than get PCWizard...

If you want to check the temperatures of your Processor download CoreTemp or RealTemp...

If you have any troubles with your computer ever goto NCIX.com and join the forums there, they are very helpful. Or else goto evga.com/community and join the forum there. Also quite helpful.

Enjoy.
