Can any one help me with video cards?

My laptop was sent away recently because it had something wrong with the battery and now i've got it back it seems like nothing is working. Windows media player doesn't play videos from the internet, google earth is slow with grid lines where it loads (which weren't on before) and now when i try to change a screen saver they all say 'The screen saver can't run because it requires a newer video card or one thats compatible with Direct3D'. Does anyone know what this means and how i can get a better video card? My laptop is a Fujitsu Siemens amilo La1703. I really appreciate any help cause as you might tell i don't know much about the technical side of laptops.|||If you have the windows installation disk reinstalll windows.

I am looking for gaming cards along the lines of WoW.|||The Go 7200 you have in there gives off pretty good graphics, but unfortunately for you, it's integrated.

If you're going to do anything, you might as well put in a better hard drive and some gaming ram if you wish.

I have a POS laptop and it runs well enough in Dalaran with medium graphics settings, so you'll be doin' better off than me and I've got 1.5GB's of ram.

Take what I say into consideration, you won't regret it.

-----------------------

Your laptop can hold up to 2GB's total. I'm not sure if what I'm about to say is the same for your laptop, but with some laptops if you have 64 bit windows installed, you can push it to 3GB's total. That would be a single 2GB stick and a single 1GB stick.

But, honestly, with what you have in your computer, you should be happy with two 1GB sticks.

I suggest you use some DDR2 PC4200 instead of DDR PC3500.

Go here for some great ram at great prices =].

Does that mean even I have dedicated video card but won't have any part for me to change?|||You are stuck with the graphics that are in your laptop.|||You probably can't buy one. The only laptop video cards I have seen can be bought with a laptop at Cyberpower, Inc. They custom build gaming laptops and desktops. Most laptops are built for work and school, not games. A gaming desktop is faster and cheaper than a laptop.|||You'll have to check the Asus website in the future for a compatible replacement. It all depends on what the video card manufacturers release for your laptop. You have a great video card right now, for a laptop.|||The video/graphics card is a chip set made into the mother board and not replaceable or upgradable.|||You can't change the graphics card in a laptop.

What are some laptops with discreet video cards?

So that I can replace and upgrade them when I want.|||You have this completely wrong. A discreet video card does NOT mean it's upgradeable. Very few laptops have the capability to upgrade the video card, and the few that do are not feasible to upgrade anyway as the MXM cards (mobile video card) will be very limited in selection due to physical, power, and thermal constraints, and then they're hard to find and expensive when you do.

Don't even think of buying a laptop with the intent to upgrade the video card down the road.

What specific video cards for laptops are Direct X 10 compatible?

I'm looking at getting a laptop, but it seems like video card manufacturors are so busy hyping their old DX9 video cards that they cover up which cards will actually work with DX10. Does anyone know of a few specific models of DX10 compatible video cards that can be purchased with a laptop?|||The 8600m is available in asus G1s and G2s and c90 and the ati 2600 is available in the asus a8jr|||There isn't one. As I recall the only video card that's DX10 is the 8800GTS/GTX but they won't fit on a laptop since they can't even fit on a lot of towers. ATI was developing one also but I don't know if it's been released. Most likely that won't fit a laptop either.
